Nice for a family with young kids. Very clean and cozy place.
very cute and secluded.. would stay again!
We had a wonderful Cabin Weekend. We found the space was perfect for our trip and our only regret is we did not stay longer.
Very nice tiny home!
I rented several of these homes for a surprise birthday weekend. The Bird's Nest is one of two tiny homes on a large lot. This was perfect for two couples or closer friends to be near each other, share a firepit, and hang together outside of the party. The other house on this lot is the Goat House. Keep in mind you'll need to bring your own creamers and sugar for coffee if needed. My friends gave this house rave reviews and loved the privacy of it.
Nice location for a weekend stay to watch a show in the caverns, zip line, and head to town for a meal.
Clean, peaceful, well equipped and appointed. Great hiking and waterfalls.
Beautiful, clean and very cozy!! We absolutely loved our stay here! We will definitely be back!
This place is perfect for a peaceful weekend! It’s close to the caverns venue about 14mins ! Amazing ! Highly recommended
We stayed at The Birds Nest, as we attended a concert at the Caverns. It was a very clean, cute place. I’d definitely stay at The Retreat again
My friends and I stayed at this beautiful home while we were in town for Bonnaroo and we had an amazing time. We were close enough to have a quick drive to and from the festival yet far enough away to escape a little. This was a perfect spot for the festival and we will be looking forward to staying here in the future if it’s available!
I had a great time staying at the Bird's Nest tiny home. I enjoyed quiet time to reflect and hiking with friends. The waterfalls on the property - Deer Lick Falls - was gorgeous, just be sure to bring hiking shoes (not tennis shoes) as some parts are slippery. I checked out the nearby coffee shops and eclectic shopping. A great experience and I will be back. One note for this property, it shares a fire pit with the neighboring unit.
Nice tiny home and nice location. Host was very responsive.
Cute and cozy place close to the caverns! Very peaceful and relaxing!
We had a great two-night stay at the Bird's Nest with another couple. It was very cozy, clean and we loved the location. Very convenient to the Caverns and a lovely spot in general.
Perfect place for the holidays! The water fall inside the resort was very impressive. We will definitely recommend to friends and family. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Perfect little tiny house cabin! Great choice for a couple looking to get away for a few days! Very peaceful and secure location! The trail and waterfall at the end of the property is beautiful! There are many hiking trailheads nearby, and you're not too far from Chattanooga or Nashville! We stayed for four nights and had a great time!
Lovely, calm setting in the woods and extremely close to The Caverns and Sewanee. I am a returning visitor and love this area.
very nice place. didn't realize there was another rental right next to it but otherwise great
Great weekend
Awesome place, literally sitting on a hiking trail. Super clean great for families.
It was a great tiny home experience. The house was stocked with everything we needed and there were no concerns about cleanliness. The host provided clear instructions on how to get there along with entry to the house. They were also very prompt in their responses. The natural surroundings made for a relaxing getaway. The trails around the park were easy to follow and we enjoyed a local restaurant and concert at The Caverns nearby. Looking forward to returning.
Tiny cozy cabin with plenty of room for 3 adults and a kid. Clean and has everything you need for a nice stay.
What a great place! Perfect place to stay while visiting the Caverns Underground concert!
Great place! Definitely take the hiking trail!
Amazingly beautiful setting. The trail they have on property is VERY worth the hike. It's short and the falls at the end are really spectacular. The house itself is small but nice and functional. I was hoping for and expecting an actual fireplace based on the listed amenities, but it turned out to be one of those in-wall electric heaters with pretend flames. It seems minor, but it's one of the reasons I rented it.
This was the perfect place for our ladies hiking weekend. The tiny home was comfy for all 4 of us and had everything we needed.
This was a lovely one night get away and we absolutely loved the relaxation. We plan to come back again so we can check out the hiking trails and stay longer.
We met up with 5 other families who stayed at various tiny homes on the property for a weekend stay. One family stayed next door at the Goat House and it was the perfect setup, sharing the fire pit under the twinkling lights. The house was so cozy and comfortable. Our two kids loved the upstairs area and even with temps being down in the 20s during our trip, we all stayed nice and warm. The hike to the waterfall was so beautiful and even more impressive than we anticipated. A must see! We can’t wait to come back and stay again!
It was a little confusing to get there, but once there. It was very peaceful.
Great area, the house was just what we thought it would be. We went to an event at the Caverns, the house was very close. Mike J
One of the best air B&Bs I have stayed in. The hiking trail in the retreat is a must to do if you stay here. It’s like a little retreat in the mountains. I would definitely recommend if you want to get away!
We stayed at the Birds nest and our friends stayed next door at the Goat house, it’s our second time to this exact TH, and our third visit to Deer Lick! We love the tiny house mountain experience …. That’s why we’ve been 3 times. We did notice more wear and tear on the TH this visit, we had issues with our bathroom pocket door which had fallen off the rolling track - so we (& our guests) battled with closing the door when using the bathroom…. It never closed all the way. No hot water in the bathroom either ….. Not the same this time….and we paid more too! So we will discuss a return trip - so sad visitors dont take care of things and maintenance can’t keep up 😢I think a change in departure instructions to say “Load dishes in dishwasher and start the machine” would be in order. Washing every last dish and putting them away seems a bit much when we pay a cleaning fee. Office was responsive when we needed a can opener and sent out maintenance to fix the door, but no solution available during our stay. Sorry Deer Lick….I’m a vacation rental owner …maybe scrutinize a little more.
Cute home. Beautiful surroundings. Enjoyed the weekend getaway. Just enough room for two adults and one child for a weekend. Fire pit area was nice but shared with another home close by.
Had a great time just lounging and searching the surrounding area. We had the best weather and overall this was the best time of year to visit The Birds Nest at The Retreat.
The tiny home and surroundings are perfect for a quiet getaway. We loved the layout of our tiny house and the wonderful fire pit outside. that being said it is time for everything to get a good cleaning the outside furniture was very dirty and the inside furniture needs a good steam cleaning. The kitchen was very clean and the bathroom was very clean just some cobwebs in the corner but no bugs were seen. I would still give this place a four out of five star rating because it was in a perfect location and decorated so cute and we absolutely love the Electric fireplace.
nice place.
Great place!!
Lovely little space. Make sure you're comfortable being around the people you're bringing with you, it is a small space after all! The outdoor seating area was fantastic; however, there are only three seats so if you need more for the people outside, bring a lawn chair!
this place was so cute! Great place to stay for shows at the caverns.
Great spot if you’re in the area for a concert in the caverns.
Excellent stay, great host, fantastic experience. Will return! Thanks for everything!
Very cute tiny home with most essentials you would need. Loved the decor- very homey.
Easy to find with the instructions provided via email. Such a cute, cozy house with a beautiful woods view. Just what we needed.
Girlfriend trip. We had a really nice time at Deer Lick Retreat/ Bird’s Nest. It is exactly as described “ a tiny house “ . There were 3 of us so we moved around just fine. The upstairs loft is spacious, however the ceiling is extremely low so be aware if you have any physical issues that don’t allow you to squat down. The location was great ( close to dining , shops, adventures and hiking). It is a very quiet , peaceful retreat and the 3 of us felt very safe there. Thanks for sharing your place with us.
Clean, comfortable, peaceful and in a beautiful place! A great get-away! My husband and I are over 75 years old; we stayed here for a week for our grandson’s graduation from Sewanee. It was easy to move about, the deck is large and has a covered area to enjoy the outdoors. Bed was very comfortable, the shower was easy to use and get in and out of. Living room couch and chair were very comfortable and relaxing. Great little washer and dryer! Enjoy! You will love it! Wooded grounds and Retreat area are great for hiking—I felt very safe!
The tiny house was clean and comfortable for he 7-day stay for me and my husband. The appliances were terrific—especially the washer and dryer that was not listed in the property description. Great surprise! We would have packed lighter had we known. The furniture and bed were very comfortable and we enjoyed relaxing in front of the electric visual “fireplace” while reading or watching movies. The outdoor fire pit is shared with the tiny house next door with comfortable Adirondack chairs and a great supply of wood. We planned on using it several nights with our family who stayed in the Monteagle Assembly but the weather did not cooperate—cold and rainy! Very nice setting—beautiful, quiet and safe.
Nice rental. Clean and no issues
Great little getaway to relax and unwind.
Great place for family get togethers to go hiking and enjoy good times around firepit roasting marshmallows and making smores. Beautiful hike to the waterfall.
I hope to stay at the retreat again. Very relaxing and the keyless entry simplified the process of checking in. The fire pit was the “cherry on top” so to speak. I would love to rent both tiny homes on each side of the fire pit sometime for a group of family and friends.
My wife and I love staying in tiny homes when we vacation. Well, we decided to hike this time and ended up at The Retreat. Let me tell you what, this is the NICEST tiny home I’ve ever stayed in. Whoever owns this particular cabin obviously cares about it!! I will be back!!
We were only there for a short amount of time, but enjoyed it completely! It was cute, clean, and very close to The Cavern’s music venue.
Perfect place for a weekend getaway!
Great location especially if you are going to a concert at the Caverns. The hike to Deer Lick Falls is worth it.
Very cool place to stay if you’re looking to hike in the area.
This Retreat is amazing! we loved our stay during Christmas. The kitchen had everything to make meals and even bake! I made muffins and cookies chili and all kinds of other things! We also loved the mini washer and dryer that was such a huge bonus!
Extra blankets, decorated really nice and all the extra touches that make the stay more comfortable!! Great location
Super cozy and functional! We loved our stay and will definitely be back!
This place is perfect. It is my number one stay. Great for get aways, the Caverns, hiking, family, etc. Perfect host, excellent communication, impeccable cleanliness. I LOVED it. Fireplace is awesome & feels way larger inside. We had an absolute blast here. One of the best Air B&Bs we’ve used. I’m actually super bummed my next set of dates are taken it was such a cool place. DO IT.
We really enjoyed this tiny home in the woods! The fire pit is nice, and there is plenty of wood to burn. Kitchen is well stocked. The only thing that would make it better is a hot tub!
Great place to detach from the daily grind and refresh. I’ll be back!
So clean, so cute, well stocked, and so comfortable! We stayed here for a show at the Caverns and it was a perfect location to feel out in the woods but just 13 mins from the venue. Comfortable beds and my kiddo loved the loft area. It was raining the whole time but we could have spent all our time around the fire pit!
Great location especially for the caverns! Easy check-in and check-out. Would highly recommend and we’ll be staying here again soon!
This place is really nice and quiet. This was our 2nd stay. My husband and I stayed previously for date night. We brought our boys this time and they really enjoyed it. We hiked the trail down to the falls, had s’mores by the fire pit, played hide and seek, tag, my little one played on the playground, and we sat on the deck and played board games. This was much needed family time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. They actually put down their computers, tablets, and phones to run around and enjoy nature! I would recommend the Retreat for anyone needing to get away from the noise of life and relax. It definitely is a Retreat!
A very comfortable place to stay close to nature. It was clean and had all the utensils we needed for preparing meals including a charcoal grill on the deck. Very pleasant decor. Bring paper and matches to light the fire in the gorgeous fire pit.
You will love the house and it's nestled back into the woods so even though you're in an area with many homes, you still have privacy. We lived it!
Had a great little trip, thanks to our tiny home at the Retreat. Accessible to hiking, good restaurants, and close to Chattanooga. Super fun stay!
Absolutely a perfect stay at the Bird’s Nest. Deer Lick Retreat is a precious development with hiking trails, play ground, fire pits. Didn’t have time to do all we wanted to do. Will definitely return!
We LOVED this place! The aesthetics are top-notch and exactly as described. It is a darling tiny house that does not feel tiny at all. And 110% worth the price. The kitchen is fully-stocked with almost everything you need to cook anything (which we did). The living room is very comfortable and equipped with a romantic electric fireplace and access to all smart TV options so we were able to watch a movie from our Amazon Prime account. The house came with a stack of wood, lighter, and fire starter and it felt very welcoming and at home. We will certainly book again, and especially this house as it is further away from the other tiny homes and construction development. It was an excellent stay. Highly recommend, especially for a romantic getaway! A mini middle-class Assembly! We loved it!
The Bird's Nest is beautifully tucked in the woods, sharing a large fire pit with the Goat House. We had a wonderful evening with friends around a fire. Everything we needed was supplied in this cozy, comfortable tiny home. The electric fireplace was a welcome addition on a rainy lazy morning, while we lounged on the coach sipping coffee, curled up under soft throw blankets. The kitchen was well equipped, as was the bathroom. And while we didn't use them, it's always nice to have a washer and dryer to use if desired. One of our group walked to the waterfall on the property (while the rest of us napped...) and was blown away by the beautiful feature right on the property. We had an easy drive to the Caverns for the concert we were in town for. This was the perfect spot for a wonderful weekend.
Deer Lick Falls is an amazing place to stay in general and we love this tiny home's location within the retreat. It's a bit more private than the other lots. As a bonus, through the woods, you can see the neighbor's super cute goats. The place was clean and well-appointed, the host communicated very well. Great stay!
I stayed here with a friend of mine for a three day trip and the house and location were beautiful. Quiet and peaceful community and the house was clean and roomy. We loved our stay here! Will definitely come back again!
Spent the weekend at the birds nest and we loved it! Had everything we needed. Very quiet and relaxing. We will definitely be back!!
This place is a gem! Great location nestled in the woods but still a short drive to get groceries or dine out. We had a relaxing weekend. Highly recommend. Can't wait to go back.
Thank goodness it was still barely daylight when we drove up or we would have never have found our cabin. There were ample directions for how to arrive at Deer Lick but none that described how to get to our specific cabin. We were given 75B as the address and we never saw a 75B. Nor did any of the cabins have signs with their names! I had the pin code for the door and literally had to go around door to door to the cabins that looked empty and resembled the pics of the one we rented. I tried all the keypads with our pin code until it opened the door. The cabin that unlocked with our pin code was NOT Bird's Nest. We can see from the VRBO site that the cabin we stayed in was "Tiny Haven". No worries, it was the perfect location in a little cul de sac in the woods and very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend Deer Lick to other people. But PLEASE give more detail in the directions. And to new travelers, arrive before dark!
This place was perfect for us and our 4 year old son! Lovely house with great amenities. We spent most of our time around the fantastic fire pit!
I absolutely loved this place! I definitely will be a return guest! I didn't want to leave. Had my schedule allowed I would'vestayed on longer!
The Bird's Nest located in the DeerLake Retreat was tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and felt very cozy. Deer Licks Falls a short walk away was worth the trip on its own. But we enjoyed cooking a great mean and eating in front of the firepit in the peace of the forest before heading out to a wildflower hike. Thanks for such a great experience.
Loved, loved, loved our tiny house. Tucked in the woods with a very private feel yet could see other cabins in distance. The cabin very accommodating with plenty of kitchen gadgets and even games for rainy days. Bed comfy. We are planning our next vacation there.
The Bird’s Nest was clean, cozy, and very inviting. My family and I enjoyed our time together for a few days and the space was perfect for our needs.
Great spot. Would recommend to a couple or group of friends!
Love staying at the Birds Nest! Quiet, cozy, and in a great location. Can't wait to stay there again.
Please do not tell anyone what a wonderful, comfortable, and peaceful place for a getaway. The Bird’s Nest was comfortable, cozy, clean and quiet. Being able to sit by the fire outside was so nice. We had everything we needed for cooking and dining. Having a “fireplace” in the living area was a nice treat. Sitting out on the deck for breakfast was a treat. We had the best weather. 70 degrees one day-in February! This was our first experience staying in a tiny home, and we are hooked! We took advantage of the trail to Deerlick Falls, as well as venturing the short drive to Fiery Gizzard/Foster Falls for a hike. We had take out meals from Jim Oliver’s Smokehouse and the Goat Market. YUM for both. Piggly Wiggly is a short drive for the things we needed. This was a getaway with another couple. They stayed at The Goat House and that worked out so well. Again, please do not tell anyone else. 😃 We do not want this secret to get out! We will be back with grandchildren. Every aspect of reserving through the website and calls to your agent to ask questions was easy. Thank you!
We really enjoyed our two day stay at the Retreat at Deer Lick Falls. We stayed in the Birds Nest Tiny home. The Bird's Nest is warm and welcoming, decorated beautifully and the setting is great. The kitchen is stocked with really nice appliances as well. Our Cousins stayed at the Goat's House next door so this particular property is perfect for vacationing with groups of people since the two properties are connected with a great fire pit in the center. Loved it. Additionally, the instructions for accessing the property and all other information was timely, organized, and helpful. Thank you! Stacey Rowland
Extremely clean, neat and tidy...a very comfortable stay!
Amazingly clean, everything we needed from cooking utensils to cleaning supplies were provided. The nature trails had amazing views. Loved that there was a waterfall and creeks right in “our backyard.” Tip: Bring hiking boots and definitely hit the trails.
The little house was so clean and welcoming (even the bird sculpture in the corner of the kitchen). The hike to Deer Lick Falls was awesome on the cool morning, and we just had a great time getting away from everything just for one night. We will definitely be back!
Peaceful ,clean ,relaxing
The Retreat at Deer Lick Falls is breathtaking. It is perfectly curated with hiking trails, a playground, and areas to socialize around the fire. The views are hard to beat with beautiful water features, to include the Deer Lick Falls. Definitely recommend as a rental. The price point is hard to beat. I would book through their website rather than AirBnb. The features on their website out perform those on AirBnb, as the website for The Retreat is tailored for the specific experience.
Loved the property grounds, great hiking and playground for kids. My kids loved visiting the neighbor goats and the entire weekend was perfect. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is our bed was not the most comfortable, was a bit hard. All in all though we cannot wait for a return visit!
A unique and quiet place in the woods. The Birds Nest was the perfect getaway and the tiny house had everything I needed to relax and renew.
The Bird’s Nest is a beautiful property with everything you could need for a getaway. It was cozy and charming and near South Cumberland State Park, which was great for adventures. The property rental team was also very responsive when I could not figure out how to turn the electric fireplace on. My only wish was that it wasn’t quite so close to other tiny house neighbors, but I think that is the trade off for knowing you are in a gated and safe property.
A much anticipated week of quiet and rest in the mountains was just what the doctor ordered. It was pretty much perfect from the nicely furnished comfortable accomodations, thoughtfully equipped full kitchen, nice bathroom with plenty of water pressure and hot water, and an ourdoor area to enjoy. I took two walks a day that always included the short hike to the falls (not much water at all while I was there). It was great to get my body moving and be out amoung the trees. I sat outside a lot reading and was sure to keep reapplying bug spray, the mosquitoes were out in force. Being there alone all week, I felt safe walking inside the tiny home community allowing me to concentrate on just being. I had stopped on my way in for some groceries but otherwise I didn't leave expect once to pick up a salad at the Mountain Goat Market. The only draw back was several tiny homes were under construction, one right next to me. Workers were there throughout the week, often playing a loud radio and using power tools. Not super restful but Retreat Vacations was very helpful in quickly getting the radio turned down. The office was super responsive to my request for help. I would go again for sure, but would ask about current construction as it defeats the purpose of quiet if power tools are a part of my time away. All in all a great option to get away!
This was our first time staying at the Retreat at Deer Lick. The Bird's Nest was well appointed and comfortable. The lot was relatively secluded so it was very quiet. I loved hearing the goats in the morning while I drank coffee on the porch. We'll be back.
The property was beautiful, clean, and well stocked. Great location and so peaceful. We loved the trails, playground, and firepit. Great proximity to other hiking and waterfalls. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!
We stayed one night in the Birds Neat home and it could not have been more perfect. The kids loved sleeping in the loft and the kitchen was full stocked with dishes, wine opener, utensils, cutting board, roasting skewers, even dishwasher. We hiked to the water fall with a 3 and 5 yr old and spent the afternoon playing in the water there and on the playground on the walk back. The fire pit was right outside our feint door and so much fun for smores. We brought all of our own food in a cooler and we were all set!
